The drugs

They are chemical substances, which when consumed cause physical or mental dependence. The addiction is, precisely, the dependence on a drug. There are illegal drugs whose sale and consumption are prohibited such as marijuana, heroin, cocaine, but there are also legal drugs such as alcohol and tobacco that are freely marketed to adults.

The alcoholism

It is considered an epidemic because the number of people who drink in an exaggerated way is increasing and also because they begin to drink when they are still teenagers.

Consequences of alcoholism

The consumption of alcohol has negative consequences not only for health, it affects other aspects of people's lives. .

To health. It causes damages in the digestive system (stomach, liver, pancreas), in the nervous system, in the circulatory system, in the reproductive system.

For the economy. It leads to a financial imbalance, since the consumption of alcohol implies an unnecessary expense. Addicted people will not spend on the basics and will use that resource to buy alcoholic beverages.

For family life. For people with this addiction, the most important thing is to satisfy their need to drink and this causes a deterioration of family relationships.

The tobacco

It is a plant whose leaf can be consumed after drying or it is processed and converted into cigarettes.
Cigarettes contain nicotine, the substance that causes addiction and about 20 substances, many of which are
which are carcinogenic, the main one being tar.

Consequences of smoking :

  • The risk of cancer (lung, larynx, esophagus, mouth) is much higher in people who smoke

  • The Emphysema is a progressive respiratory disease that gradually decreases respiratory capacity

  • Bronchitis and pneumonia appear more frequently in smokers
